Tags & Organization

Tags let you organize tasks your way. Create categories that make sense for your life and work.

What Are Tags?

Tags are color-coded labels you attach to tasks. Unlike Smart Categories (which are automatic based on due date), tags are completely customizable.

Common tag systems include:

  • By project - "Website Redesign", "Q4 Planning", "Wedding"
  • By context - "Work", "Personal", "Health", "Finance"
  • By energy level - "Deep Work", "Quick Wins", "Errands"
  • By person - "@Boss", "@Partner", "@Team"

Keep It Simple

Start with 3-5 tags. You can always add more later. Too many tags becomes overwhelming and defeats the purpose of organization.

Creating Tags

There are two ways to create tags:

Method 1: From Settings

1

Go to Settings

Click the gear icon or navigate to Settings from the menu.
2

Find the Tags section

Scroll to the Tags management area.
3

Click "Add Tag"

Enter a name and choose a color. Click Save.

Method 2: While Creating a Task

1

Open the task dialog

Create a new task or edit an existing one.
2

Click the Tags field

You'll see existing tags and an option to create new ones.
3

Type a new tag name

If the tag doesn't exist, you'll see "Create tag: [name]". Click it.

Customizing Colors

Each tag can have its own color. This makes it easy to visually identify tasks at a glance.

Taskitos supports any hex color code. Some suggestions:

Urgent
Work
Personal
Projects
Finance
Health
Learning
Someday

Info

Use contrasting colors for tags you use frequently. This makes it easier to spot them in your task list.

Filtering by Tag

Once you have tagged tasks, you can filter your view to see only tasks with a specific tag.

1

Switch to Tags view

Use the view selector at the top of your dashboard to switch from "Days" to "Tags" view.
2

Click a tag

In the sidebar or tag list, click the tag you want to filter by.
3

View filtered tasks

Only tasks with that tag will be displayed. The tag is highlighted to show it's active.

Multiple Tags Per Task

A single task can have multiple tags. For example, "Prepare budget presentation" could have both "Work" and "Finance" tags. It will appear when filtering by either tag.

Managing Tags

Reordering Tags

In Settings → Tags, drag and drop tags to reorder them. The order affects how they appear in dropdowns and the sidebar.

Renaming Tags

Click a tag in Settings to edit its name or color. Changes apply to all tasks with that tag.

Deleting Tags

Delete a tag from Settings. The tag is removed from all tasks that had it. Tasks themselves are not deleted.

Starring Tags

Mark frequently used tags as "starred" to access them quickly. Starred tags appear first in lists.
