Extreme Focus Mode

Select up to 3 tasks for your Focus zone. This simple constraint helps you cut through the noise and accomplish what matters most.

The Philosophy Behind Focus Mode

Research consistently shows that trying to focus on too many things leads to accomplishing less. The human brain can only hold 3-4 items in working memory at once.

"If everything is important, nothing is important."

By forcing yourself to choose just 3 tasks, you're making a commitment about what truly matters today. Everything else can wait.

The Rule of 3

This concept appears in productivity systems like "Getting Things Done", "The ONE Thing", and "Eat That Frog". Taskitos makes it effortless to practice.

How Focus Mode Works

The Focus section appears at the top of your dashboard. It can hold a maximum of 3 tasks, displayed as prominent cards that command your attention.

Adding Tasks to Focus

1

Find a task in your list

Scroll through Today, This Week, or any category to find a task you want to focus on.
2

Click the Focus button

Look for the target icon or "Add to Focus" option on the task.
3

Task moves to Focus section

The task now appears as a prominent card at the top of your dashboard.

Removing Tasks from Focus

To remove a task from Focus (without completing it):

  • Click the task in the Focus section
  • Click "Remove from Focus" or toggle off the Focus option
  • The task returns to its normal category

Focus Order

Your 3 focus tasks are ranked: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priority. This helps you decide what to work on when you sit down to be productive.

1st

Your most important task. Do this first.

2nd

Do this after completing the first.

3rd

Bonus task if time permits.

Reorder by Dragging

You can drag and drop tasks within the Focus section to reorder them. Put your most important task in the 1st position.

Best Practices

Set Focus in the Morning

Before checking email or starting work, choose your 3 focus tasks. This sets your intention for the day.

Complete Focus Before Other Tasks

Resist the urge to do "quick" tasks outside your focus. They add up and steal time from what matters.

It's OK to Have Less Than 3

Some days, one big task deserves all your attention. You don't have to fill all 3 slots.

Refresh Throughout the Day

Completed a focus task? Add a new one. Your focus list should always reflect your current priorities.

Be Honest About What You Can Do

Don't add tasks that take 4 hours each if you only have 6 hours. Be realistic about your capacity.

Optional: Live Clock

Enable the live clock in Settings to see a countdown to your focus tasks' due times. This creates a healthy sense of urgency.

Use With Care

The live clock is motivating for some but stressful for others. Try it for a week and see if it helps you. If it causes anxiety, turn it off.
