Timezone Setup
Your timezone setting affects when tasks are due, when reminders are sent, and how dates are displayed. Getting it right is essential.
Why Timezone Matters
Everything in Taskitos depends on your timezone setting:
- Due dates - "Tomorrow at 3pm" means 3pm in YOUR timezone
- Reminders - Notifications are sent based on when the task is due in YOUR timezone
- Quiet hours - 10pm-7am is calculated in YOUR timezone
- Smart categories - "Today" means today in YOUR timezone
- Auto-rescheduling - Runs at midnight in YOUR timezone
- Recurring tasks - Instances are created based on YOUR timezone
Wrong Timezone = Wrong Reminders

Available Timezones
Taskitos supports all major US timezones plus UTC:
| Timezone | Offset (Standard) | Common Locations |
|---|---|---|
| America/New_York | UTC-5 | New York, Miami, Boston |
| America/Chicago | UTC-6 | Chicago, Houston, Dallas |
| America/Denver | UTC-7 | Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake |
| America/Los_Angeles | UTC-8 | Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco |
| UTC | UTC+0 | For travelers or global use |
Note: Daylight Saving Time is handled automatically. UTC-5 becomes UTC-4 during Eastern Daylight Time.
For Travelers
If you travel frequently, you have two options:
Option 1: Update Timezone When You Travel
Change your timezone in Settings when you arrive at a new location. Tasks will adjust to local time.
Best for: Long trips or relocations
Option 2: Keep Home Timezone
Keep your timezone set to your home location. Tasks due at "3pm" are always 3pm at home, regardless of where you are.
Best for: Short trips or when tasks are tied to home obligations
Common Issues
Tasks show wrong time
Check your timezone setting. If it's set to UTC and you're in EST, times will be 5 hours off.
Reminders come at wrong time
Same cause - verify timezone setting matches your actual location.
Quiet hours not working
Quiet hours are calculated in your profile timezone. If timezone is wrong, quiet hours will be wrong too.
"Today" shows wrong tasks
"Today" is calculated based on your timezone. Check the setting if tasks appear in the wrong category.
